WELCOME to TROOP 29!

Troop 29 is chartered by Belgrade Avenue United Methodist Church in North Mankato, Minnesota. We are part of the Great Bend District of the Twin Valley Council. Our current membership includes 43 boys in 5 patrols, scoutmaster Duane Rader, 28 assistant scoutmasters, and 11 parent committee members. We are a very active, family-oriented group. We stress advancement, community service, friendship, and fun.

Scout meetings are held in the church basement on Monday evenings, with a leader meeting first and the troop meeting following. We have committee meetings once a month, and a parent meeting is scheduled during the troop meeting when needed.

ADVANCEMENT

New scouts and their parents participate in a campout when they join the troop to assist the boys in earning the Tenderfoot rank and the First Aid merit badge. Scout meetings are then broken down into different activities, allowing time for boys to work on merit badges, and there is always time set aside at campouts to work on badges and rank advancement.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

For most scout ranks, boys need to fulfill a certain amount of community service requirements. We participate in the Council "Scouting for Food" project each March and Mankato's "Rake the Town" project each October. We complete an annual service project for the cities of North Mankato and Nicollet, and every year we assist with the community Fun Days Celebration by collecting garbage and recycling. In addition, many Eagle Scout projects involve community service hours.

FRIENDSHIP & FUN

We consider Troop 29 a family. We stress courtesy and a positive attitude. Our activities and patrols are multi-age to promote mentorship between the older and younger scouts.
